As we find ourselves in the midst of an incredibly busy month, I like the notion of updating the way I think about Stress.
In her Ted Talk, Kelly McGonigal suggests that we see the physical symptoms of tightening neck/shoulders, faster heartbeats, and oncoming headache as our body’s way of signaling that we need to shift.
David Brendel draws a similar conclusion in the Harvard Business Review (HBR) article, Stress Isn’t a Threat, It’s A Signal to Change where he shares clients’ stories about how they’ve learned to manage Stress. In all examples, there is a call to shift our perspective around how we see Stress and how we choose to respond.
My conclusion: September, bring it on!
